Katy Perry’s royal links – from hot Prince Harry remark to Coronation blunder
Firework hitmaker Katy Perry sparked a frenzy when she appeared at King Charles’s Coronation earlier this year, before performing at his concert celebrating the historic occasion.
It wasn’t long before fans started questioning how Katy had managed to land the royal invitation.
However, Katy, 39, had in fact forged a connection with King Charles, 74, years prior, in 2019, when they first met at an event in Mumbai, India.
One year later, Charles appointed the chart-topping singer as an ambassador for the British Asian Trust.
Explaining his decision to appoint Katy at the time, the monarch said it was because the star has had a “long-standing commitment to charitable causes around the world”.

When she was being introduced to the charity, Katy described Charles as a “very kind soul,” before revealing he had asked her if she “could sing to his plants”.
Katy also shared her hopes that her performance at this May’s Coronation Concert would help to “shine a further light on the British Asian Trust’s Children Protection Fund”.
Upon taking to the stage at Windsor Castle, it was clear Katy also had a big impact on King Charles’s grandchildren, 10-year-old Prince George and eight-year-old Princess Charlotte.
The young royals could be seen adorably dancing along to her performance of Roar, while Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales’ daughter, Charlotte, was spotted singing the lyrics.

Although her appearance at the concert was a triumph, Katy suffered her fair share of mishaps during the Coronation.
The American Idol judge initially struggled to find her seat when she first entered Westminster Abbey for the ceremony.
She then stole the show by posing for selfies with fellow attendees, after her giant lilac hat was criticised by viewers, who worried it could have blocked others’ line of view.
After the ceremony came to a close, Katy almost suffered an even more embarrassing blunder when she tripped and almost fell in her high heels while walking outside Westminster Abbey.
Despite her links to King Charles, Katy previously made headlines by sharing her admiration for his son, Prince Harry, 39, who is now married to Meghan Markle.
The performer, who is now in a relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, cheekily branded the Duke of Sussex a “hot ginger” during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show back in 2012.
When comedian Ross Noble reminded Katy of Harry’s reputation at the time of being a ladies’ man, she added: “I’d be open to that.”
Cheryl, who was also a guest on that particular episode of the BBC show, then discussed rumours that she and Harry had been talking, which prompted Katy to shout: “Get off my man!”
