Keith Urban Calls Time With Family The ‘Silver Lining’ Of Pandemic
Keith Urban, currently in his home country Australia with his wife Nicole Kidman and their two daughters calls the time with family a “silver lining” amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Nic’s family’s here — her mom and sister and [her sister’s] husband and kids,” Urban said in a video chat with Taste Of Country. “So, nice to have family. We don’t have any of that in Nashville.”
Kidman, who is currently filming an upcoming television series, shared a photo on Instagram of herself hugging her mom, Jenelle, in August.
She wrote it felt so good to be able to hug her mom with whom she reunited after eight months. “I missed her 80th birthday but I’m here now. Love you Mumma,” she wrote.
Urban’s mom is also in Australia, but he’s currently unable to see her due to travel restrictions. “She lives in another state here,” he explains, “and they have the borders closed.”
Urban will be back in the United States for Wednesday’s 2020 ACM Awards ceremony, which he will be hosting for the first time.
The show will be taking place from three locations in Nashville — the Ryman Auditorium, the Bluebird Cafe and the Grand Ole Opry House, where Urban will be — rather than in Las Vegas, due to the pandemic.
Urban is scheduled to release a 16-track new album, The Speed of Now Part 1, featuring collaborations with Breland, Pink, Chic guitarist Nile Rogers and fellow country star Eric Church, on September 18.
