Kelly Rowland Reveals Why Her 2nd Pregnancy Is ‘Dramatically Different’ Than First
Kelly Rowland revealed she’s ‘super grateful’ and ‘excited’ to welcome a another child and admitted her son Titan, 6, already picked out the baby’s name, in an EXCLUSIVE interview with HL.
Kelly Rowland, 39, is about to become a mother-of-two and admitted that her pregnancy this time around is a lot more tiring than her first! The singer opened up about her journey in getting ready to welcome a second child when she spoke to us while promoting the Amazon Treasure Truck’s Beauty Spotlight, which she hosted on Dec. 3 in partnership with L’Oréal, through a video interview. “[I’m] tired! I forgot what it was like to be pregnant,” she EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife.
“I’m out of breath every week this kid gets heavier and heavier,” she added. “I forgot what going up the stairs was like — A marathon. It’s really real and it’s definitely different from my first pregnancy. I was talking to a girlfriend about that last night, I was like, ‘No one told me! No one told me it was like this!’ and she was like, ‘Was your pregnancy with Titan not like this?’ and I was like, ‘No! it was so dramatically different and I wish someone would’ve told me.’”
“It probably wouldn’t have stopped me from having another one,” she continued. “I’m super excited. Not to complain. I’m super grateful for the opportunity just to be trusted to be a mother again.”
Kelly, who is expecting her second child with husband Tim Weatherspoon, also talked about the difficulties anxiety can have in a pregnancy, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and explained that she’s working hard to not let that negatively affect her. “I try not to think about the anxiety part of it because I do feel like I would drive myself crazy, but I have been trying to do a lot of breathing techniques and meditating and just being able to get myself into bed so I can get the 8 hours because I’m tired,” she said. “I think sometimes I’m working so much that I forget that I’m growing a human, so I’m exhausted. Like I hit a wall at a certain time and I’m like, ‘I don’t want to move! I’m so tired!’”
The former Destiny’s Child member, who is already a mom to her six-year-old son, Titan, is gearing up for all the rules and regulations the hospital will have due to COVID and is focusing on keeping her family and the new baby safe above all else. “The way we’ve learned so much about this virus from what we do know, things change and I just want to make sure that my baby is safe, that I’m safe and that we get back to our home safe with no worries or anything,” she said. “I keep thinking about, of course, my household, but I can’t stop thinking about all of these doctors and nurses who are away from their families and I just pray to God that everything goes smooth the way that it went with the birth of my son Titan. I just want to be able to have the baby, leave the hospital and come back home because it’s so many other people that are going through so much and they’re hoping to be able to get back home to their families, for sure.”
In addition to taking precautions, Kelly already has a name for her upcoming tot and revealed that her son is the one who picked it out! “We actually let Titan name the baby,” she admitted. “I don’t know how he came up with it. We were just as shocked because funny enough, the name that he chose was on my list, I just didn’t tell him.”
“I feel like me and Titan, we knew each other in a past life,” she went on. “I just feel like we are so incredibly connected. He knew the name and he gave the baby the name and the baby’s named.”
Kelly also revealed that she knows the sex of the baby, but like the name, she’s keeping it under wraps for now. “My husband just wanted us to have something for ourselves and I respected that because it’s something you have for the rest of your life that’s everywhere,” she explained. “I was like, ‘Absolutely babe!’ Whatever he wants. We’re excited about our baby.”
Kelly announced her second pregnancy in an Oct. interview with Women’s Health magazine. “We had been talking about it loosely, and then COVID happened, and we were just like….let’s see what happens,” she told the outlet about planning the pregnancy. Luckily, after trying, she got pregnant “right away.”
