Madonna very weak and tired as she recovers from infection that sent her to the ICU
Although slowly recovering from a serious bacterial infection that hospitalised her last week, Madonna is still 'weak and very tired.'
The infection, that forced the 64 year old star to delay her upcoming Celebration Tour, has left the star bedridden with doubts hanging over when she will be able to kickstart her extended 84-day tour, which was due to begin next week on July 15 in Vancouver.
The US singing legend ended up in intensive care after ignoring signs of feeling unwell during her tour rehearsals. Just four days earlier, the star was already getting extremely excited for the 40th anniversary tour, sharing an insight into rehearsals.
Along with a photo of how things were going, she captioned it with "the calm before the storm."
She was then found unresponsive at her home last weekend before being rushed to a New York hospital where her immediate family were 'preparing for the worst' after several days of uncertainty over how likely recovery would be.
Madonna's manager Guy O'Seary confirmed at the time that Madonna needed time to recover in an Instagram post.
He said: "On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU.
"Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.
"At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.
"We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows."
Eldest daughter, Lourdes Leon, 26, was by her mum's side throughout the duration of her hospital stay whilst eldest son Rocco, 22, who she shares with ex Guy Ritchie, abandoned a motorcycling tour of Romania to return home to be by his mother's side as she recovers.
Madonna and Guy's other son, David Banda, 17, was also spotted making his way to his mum's Upper Eastside New York City apartment
Madonna is also mother to a further three children – Mercy, 17 and her 10-year-old twins Estere and Stella.
