Mean Girls star Clare Preuss looks unrecognisable to her character 18 years on
Actress Clare Preuss looks worlds away from the character she played in classic movie Mean Girls 18 years ago.
The fan-favourite was a huge hit and told the story of a teen heading to an American high school for the first time and the issues she faced with trying to fit in with the already established friendship ‘clicks’.
Clare, now 44, played the character of Caroline Krafft who was up against Cady Heron, played by Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan for the Marymount Prep Mathlete school quiz in the 2004 film.
The Canadian actor’s character appeared towards the end of the film and was described by Lindsey’s character as someone who: “Seriously needed to pluck her eyebrows, her outfit looked like it was picked out by a blind Sunday school teacher, and she had some 99-cent lip gloss on her snaggletooth.”
At the age of 16, Clare portrayed the unconfident school pupil with thick eyebrows and thick rimmed glasses and even sported a little moustache.
Caroline and Cady went head to head to win the Mathlete title for their respective schools. With Caroline looking like she won when she hit the buzzer first, it was Cady who won the maths challenge by answering: “The limit does not exist” after Caroline answered the question incorrectly.
Worlds away from the character of Caroline, Clare has remained out the limelight in recent years but shares her travel adventures with her followers on her Instagram page.
The actress now has shoulder length blonde, curly hair and is almost unrecognisable to the scared Mathlete from Mean Girls 18 years ago.
She recently shared a selection of photos from her trip earlier this to Switzerland and was glowing and completely unrecognisable as she smiled for the camera wearing a black bikini and oversized sunglasses with a wrap around her waist.
She wrote: “Brilliant Basel weekend with my lilest sis @kschregi fam @spencer.easy & new friends! Floating down the Rhine, learning Swedish Chess, enjoying local brew & so much more. #HomeSwissHome.”
Clare did take to her Instagram to mark 15 years since she appeared in the hit movie and shared a behind the scenes snap of herself and one of the other Marymount students.
The pair were snapped outside a trailer on set and Clare was posing holding a traffic cone saying “Film”.
