Meghan Markle Felt ‘Unprotected’ By Royal Family — Leading To ‘Tremendous Emotional Di
This doesn’t come as a surprise!
If you’ve been keeping up with Meghan Markle over the last two years since she married into the Royal family, you’d know about some of the struggles she’s been through! Specifically, many of the tabloid articles published by the UK media which she has been subject to and unable to respond to.
Per new legal documents obtained by E! News, lawyers for the Suits alum say that common practices by the Windsor family, including not speaking to the press, left Miz Markle and her friends “feeling silenced” when faced with media reports.
The doc from her team reads:
“ had become the subject of a large number of false and damaging articles by the U.K. tabloid media, specifically by the , which caused tremendous emotional distress and damage to her mental health.”
As you’re likely aware, they’re specifically referencing the publishing of a letter to her father Thomas Markle, which was written in August 2018, three months after her wedding which he did not attend. This is now at the center of a legal battle between the Sussexes and the British outlet.
Her lawyers added:
“As her friends had never seen her in this state before, they were rightly concerned for her welfare, specifically as she was pregnant, unprotected by the Institution and prohibited from defending herself.”
So sad. And a situation that sounds a lot like the one Princess Diana was in…
You’ll recall when Meg’s anonymous besties spoke with People in early 2019 to pull back the curtain on what was really going on behind the scenes with their friend, and also defend her against the claims made by the Mail on Sunday in the article in question.
At the time, it was Prince Harry who informed his pregnant wife about the People story, which her friends say they were driven to do because Kensington Palace allegedly “mandated” those in her inner circle to give “no comment” if approached by the press.
Her representatives asserted (below) that the Duchess of Sussex had no idea about the article prior to publication and was “unaware” of her friends’ actions and “not involved” at all:
“Had the Claimant been asked or been given the opportunity to participate, she would have asked the KP Communications Team to say on the record that she had not been involved with the People magazine article, as she had not been.”
This comes after Archie Harrison‘s momma suffered a minor legal setback in May when Judge Warby ruled that three elements of the case were “irrelevant in law, or inadequately particularized, or that it would be disproportionate to litigate the issues raised,” shifting the focus back onto her letter published in the Mail on Sunday.
