Performance artist who ate $120K banana opening interactive food show
David Datuna — the performance artist who ate that $120,000 Maurizio Cattelan banana duct-taped to a wall at Art Basel Miami — is opening his own interactive food show featuring “33 items you can find in your corner bodega,” we’re told.
At the show — launching Thursday at NYC gallery Ca’d’ Oro — attendees will be encouraged to “snatch and eat the ‘artwork’ ” right off the walls, “such as M&Ms and Diet Coke,” a source said.
“Collectors can buy a certificate authenticating the work as ‘art’ for $450,” with all proceeds going to charity for cancer research. Datuna told us at the time he ate the Art Basel banana: “It tasted like $120,000.”
