Peter Andre admits he’s having a ‘difficult time’ as he’s not able to see his elderly parents

Peter Andre has candidly opened up about finding it “tough” not being able to see his elderly parents, Savvas and Thea Andrea.
The 47 year old Mysterious Girl singer, who shared a touching tribute to wife Emily on her birthday, has been separated from his dad Savvas, 87, and mum Thea, 85, since the coronavirus lockdown prevented him from flying to Australia, where they live.
Speaking to Charlotte Hawkins and Adil Ray on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday morning, Peter explained how he is unable to visit his parents due to the coronavirus travel restrictions.
He explained: “Borders in Victoria are completely shut. So, it’s a really difficult time right now and what I say to mum and dad is… All these years, whatever job I was doing, anywhere in the world, if mum and dad said: ‘You need to get home, we need you’. You wouldn’t think twice.

“Whereas now, you can’t, even if we wanted to, we can’t go home.”
According to the UK government travel advice, entry to Australia is currently closed, except for Australian citizens and permanent residents, or those with an exemption.
Peter explained how both his parents “aren’t well” and it is currently the responsibility of his sister Debbie, who lives in Oz, to look after Savvas and Thea.
Dad-of-four Peter, who recently gave fans a sneak peek of his son Junior’s new bedroom, said: “My sister lives out there and she’s basically caring for mum and dad but, obviously, she has her child and she has a fiancé so it’s really difficult for her as well.”
He added: “Mum isn’t well, dad isn’t well – I mean they’re 87 and 85. It’s really tough. And all the brothers, my brother Chris is watching form Cyprus – and he knows how we feel.
“We all want to get there and see them and we can’t and the tough thing is to know that we just can’t get on that plane.”
GMB co-host Adil then asked Peter if he will go and see his parents more regularly once the restrictions are lifted.
Peter replied: “It’s so funny you say that because, us brothers said that: ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing that once the borders… the restrictions lift, we all get on the plane together as brothers and we just go’.

“I said: ‘Wouldn’t that be amazing,’ and they said: ‘What good would that do if we all went one week and surprised them and then came back?’
“We’re actually thinking we have to stagger it and one goes out and then comes back, so the next one goes out so we’re constantly there for them.
“They need it, they looked after us all our lives and it’s their turn to be looked after and right now we can’t and it’s tough. It is hard.”
Peter previously revealed he was worried for his parents amid the pandemic in his new magazine column.
He wrote: “I worry about my parents and Emily’s parents. If my mum and dad ring and say, “We need you” I can’t get to them.
“That’s tough to deal with, but I’m just one of many going through the same thing.”
