Piers Morgan addresses fans demands to join This Morning after Phil exit
Piers Morgan had a rather bizarre response to fans suggestion that he should replace Phillip Schofield on This Morning, following his departure from the show.
As fans of the daytime TV show have been left wondering who will take over, some have suggested former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, 58, who stepped down in 2021 after claiming he felt "censored" by ITV over comments on Meghan Markle.
And responding to fans asking him to take over from Phil, Piers has, once again, made reference to the Duchess of Sussex.
Sharing a photo of himself and This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby, Piers penned the caption: "Thanks to everyone suggesting I might replace Phillip Schofield as Holly Willoughby’s [co-host] at This Morning in a Lazarus-like comeback to ITV.
"Unfortunately, there’s just one problem: I still don’t believe a single word Meghan Markle says!"
The controversial broadcaster's post was met with a combination of support and backlash, with one fan writing: "Seriously you would make the show more entertaining!!!" while another Instagram user labelled the caption "really weird."
Another critic added: "Any excuse to mention Meghan Markle, eh?! [crying laughing emojis]" and a third commented: "Meghan lives in your head rent free…. It’s hilarious [laughing emoji]."
Piers's ongoing feud with Meghan appears to have originated after she "ghosted" him after they met at a pub back in 2016.
His departure from GMB came after he sensationally walked off the set after an argument with co-star Alex Beresford about the Duchess.
Alex said: "I understand that you don't like Meghan Markle, you have made it so clear a number of times on this programme. I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off, she's entitled to cut you off if she wants to.
"Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don't think she has, but you continue to trash her…" before Piers cut him off.
Launching out of his seat, Piers said: "Okay, I'm done with this. No, sorry, see you later," as he walked off set.
During his show on TalkTV, Piers Morgan Uncensored, Piers has continued his extremely critical reporting on both Meghan and Prince Harry.
His coverage was briefly referenced in Harry and Meghan's Netflix documentary, with the broadcaster's voice being heard discussing Meghan.
Reacting to this, following the release of the documentary's trailer, Piers tweeted: "BREAKING: Princess Pinocchio & Prince Hypocrite use my voice to flog their ghastly new series. I’m traumatised by this exploitation."
