Queen Elizabeth’s Former Malta Villa is on the Market For $6.7 Million

Villa Guardamangia, the palazzo-style mansion where Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip once lived, is now on the market for $6.7 million. If you ever wondered what it’s like to live like royalty (and you have a couple million dollars sitting in the bank), now is your chance.

Situated just outside of Malta’s capital city of Valletta, the sprawling villa was home to the couple between 1949 and 1952, when Prince Philip was serving on the HMS Chequers with the Royal Navy’s Mediterranean fleet. Their time in Malta was very special for the newlyweds, where they were able to live briefly as an “ordinary” couple, prior to the Queen’s 1953 coronation. When the Queen traveled back to Malta in 2015, she said,”Visiting Malta is always very special for me. I remember happy days here with Prince Philip when we were first married.”

According to the listing, which is held by Homes of Quality, “The property consists of a lounge, dining room, living room, kitchen, 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, grand ‘sala nobile’, and 2 garages,” and features 9,680-square feet of lush gardens. Spacious rooms and high ceilings make this historic home an idyllic retreat—though it is in desperate need of some TLC. According to reports from Hello!, “its opulence has faded into dilapidation in recent decades, with images showing overgrown gardens and a weathered facade.“
