Rod Stewart says his secret to marital success is down to living apart
Sir Rod Stewart has revealed the secret to his and his wife’s 12-year marriage – never seeing each other.
The 74-year-old pop legend, who married model and Loose Women panellist Penny Lancaster in 2007, said: “Penny and I like our silence. We live in a very big house and we don’t bump into each other for hours on end.”
The Maggie May star is father to eight children, six of which are from previous relationships.
He has two children with 48-year-old Penny – Alastair, 13, and Aiden, seven.
He was previously married to Rachel Hunter, and Alana Hamilton.
Sir Rod also says he is the same weight now as he was more than a decade ago.
“I work out a lot. I’ve had a trainer for 30 years and I weigh the same as 12 years ago.
"I’ve built an indoor pool and I do a lot of swimming,” he told Women’s Own.
The singer’s comments are thought to have been made before revealing last weekend he had won a battle with prostate cancer.
He told how he was diagnosed with the disease in February 2016 during a routine checkup and secretly fought it for three years.
Sir Rod opened up about his prostate cancer during a fundraising evening with former Faces bandmates Kenney Jones and Ronnie Wood.
He said: “No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody. I’m in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests.”
