RTE's Marty Morrissey: 'I've had a few moves with Mary Kennedy'
RTE’s Marty Morrissey has tipped former Nationwide presenter Mary Kennedy as one to watch on the new series of Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) – as he has had “a few moves” with her previously.
The sports anchor, who took part in the show two seasons ago, said he reckoned she could do very well on the programme.
“I looked at the line-up and I think it’s excellent and I’m delighted that Mary Kennedy is involved, it’s a great coup to have her,” he said.
“I’m a friend and a colleague, but I think she’s brilliant.
“I’ve had a few moves in the past with her, I’ll have to admit and I’ve had a couple of sing-songs in her house, she’s a brilliant singer.”
He added that it was a unique opportunity for her that is coming along at the right time, given that she had to retire from Nationwide in September after she turned 65.
“I think it’s great for her and it’s good for the programme as well,” he said.
“I think this is a great new challenge at the right time for her.”
He said all 11 contestants will be compulsive viewing in January.
“I think it’s a strong line-up and proves once again why it’s such a successful programme,” he said.
“It’s one of the best things I ever did and I’m very proud to be associated with it.
“It’s something that all 11 contestants will relish and enjoy and as viewers, we’ll get to know them bit-by-bit during the course of the programme.”
Also taking part in the fourth series will be 2fm’s Lottie Ryan, who’s been installed as an early favourite, Olympic boxing medallist Michael Carruth and Love Island’s Yewande Biala.
