Russell Brand discusses 'heartbreak' after Katy Perry announces pregnancy

Russell Brand has discussed feeling ‘heartbroken’ after ex-wife Katy Perry confirmed that she was pregnant with her first child.

The singer officially announced that she and her fiancé Orlando Bloom are expecting a baby together – and Katy also presented her baby bump in the music video for her latest single, Never Worn White.

Following this news, Russell has admitted to be ‘healingfrom a broken heart’ in a video he shared to his Instagram.

‘It’s a terrible revelation to know that you have investedyour wellbeing in another person and that life hasn’t gone the way that youwanted it to go,’ the comedian began to say.

‘I’ve experienced heartbreak for most of my life. When I think now, cause now I’m in my 40s so I can look back at heartbreak when I was 15, heartbreak when I was 12, heartbreak when I was 11, heartbreak in my 20s and 30s, you know sort of right into like until when I got married, just getting my heartbroken again and again.’

Russell, who is married to blogger Laura Gallacher, admittedthat part of the reason why he was so used to getting his heart broken was dueto his promiscuous ways in his youth and the fact that he would fall for peoplequite easily.

He continued: ‘I suppose when I think of the word “heartbreak”I imagine it being a kind of temporary experience that’s due to an illusionaryprojection of spiritual feelings.’

And the 44–year-old also suggested to his fans that they will continue to experience heartbreak unless ‘you alter your patterns and habits’.

Russell was notably previously married to Katy, with the twofirst dating after they met at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

The couple later got engaged on New Year’s Eve that same year, and tied the knot in a Hindu ceremony in Rajasthan, India in October 2010.

However, at the end of 2011, Russell filed for divorce,citing irreconcilable differences, with the divorce being finalised thefollowing year.

He was said to have informed Katy of his intentions to file for a divorce in a text message, and the two have not spoken to each other since.

Katy subsequently revealed in her documentary film Katy Perry: Part Of Me in 2012 that conflicting career schedules and her desire to not have children at that given time lead to a breakdown in their marriage.

Russell had previously spoken of his intention to make amends with the 35-year-old in 2017, and hailed her as an ‘extraordinary woman’.
