Snoop Dogg slams Gayle King over CBS clip about Kobe Bryant
Snoop Dogg has unleashed on Gayle King on social media over Kobe Bryant saying, “Respect the family and back off, bitch, before we come get you.”
The rapper was furious with CBS star King for mentioning Kobe’s sexual assault charge in an interview.
Snoop said in a monologue posted on Instagram, “Gayle King, out of pocket for that s–t, way out of pocket.
“What do you gain from that? I swear to God, we the worst, we the f–king worst. We expect more from you Gayle, don’t you hang out with Oprah?
“Why you all attacking us, we your people. You ain’t coming after f–king Harvey Weinstein asking him dumb ass questions. I get sick of you all…
“I wanna call you one … Funky, dog-haired bitch how dare you try and tarnish my mother f–king homeboys reputation punk mother f–ker.
“Respect the family and back off, bitch, before we come get you.”
Snoop hit back at “CBS This Morning” host King after she brought up Bryant’s 2003 sexual assault charge during an interview with former WNBA champion Lisa Leslie.
His message, titled “P.S.A. Let the family mourn in peace,” had more than 1.1 million likes by Thursday morning.
Snoop’s comments come just days after King interviewed Leslie, a longtime friend of the late Lakers legend. Bryant, who died Jan. 26 in a helicopter crash, was accused of rape in 2003 by a 19-year old woman in Colorado. The case was dropped in 2004.
“It has been said that his legacy is complicated because of the sexual assault charge which was dismissed in 2003, 2004. Is it complicated for you as a woman, a WNBA player?” King asked Leslie.
“It’s not complicated for me at all,” Leslie answered. “I just have never seen him as being the kind of person that would do something violating to a woman or be aggressive in that way. That’s just not the person I know.”
The interview has enraged Kobe fans and garnered significant backlash across social media.
But even King has said she is not happy. This morning she slammed her own network for distributing an “out-of-context” clip and said she plans to hold a “very intense” conversation with CBS News executives.
“I’ve been up reading the comments about the interview I did with Lisa Leslie about Kobe Bryant, and I know that if I had only seen the clip that you saw, I’d be extremely angry with me too,” King said in an Instagram video. “I am mortified. I am embarrassed and I am very angry.”
Reps for King and CBS didn’t immediately comment.
