Sofia Richie called out for messy-hair Instagram post amid California wildfires

Sofia Richie is being criticized for an Instagram caption she posted amid the California wildfires.

“Santa Ana winds- messy bun,” the 21-year-old model captioned a photo of herself striking a pose on Wednesday.

While most of the comments consisted of people complimenting Richie’s look, some took offense to the “insensitive” caption.

“200,000 people evacuated and 2 million people without power but okay go ahead flex?? could u be any more insensitive,” one person wrote.

Another added, “girl as good as you look, santa ana winds = fires in your area, have some respect for all the people who have lost their homes.”

The National Weather Service issued a “red flag warning” on Thursday due to the powerful winds in Santa Ana that have threatened to intensify the fires in Southern California.

Richie has not responded to the backlash, but she did express sympathy for those affected by the California wildfires in another post.

On Thursday, she shared a video of a news broadcast about the evacuations that are taking place in Simi Valley, California.

“No!!!” she wrote over the clip with a prayer hands emoji.

Over the past month, there have been at least 10 active fires in the Golden State.

Nearly 200,000 have been forced out of their homes, and more than 2.5 million people have been left without power.
