Crissy Rock discussed her career fears in an interview with Express.co.uk, as she admitted that she often wonders if she can keep up with the young comedians today. Last month, the actress started a whole new chapter of her career when she began touring with Cruising Through Menopause – a musical theatre production that will be traveling around the UK and Ireland for the next five months with Crissy leading the charge.

Crissy, 63, is probably best known for playing Janey York in ITV’s Benidorm between 2007 and 2011.

The star went on to appear in the 11th series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Met Out Of Here! in the same year she exited the show.

However, the comedienne also stayed in the comedy circuit for a long time after that, making a name for herself in the stand-up world.

Unfortunately, Crissy has found that age can sometimes be a barrier to success.

“Sometimes I think I’ve missed the boat,” she explained. “You know, because of my age.

“Because a lot of the comics now are all young and on TV and doing these big things, and I ask myself, ‘Have I missed the boat?’

“But I’m not bothered because I enjoy it anyway.”

Speaking about her many roles and reality TV appearances over the years, Crissy quipped: “You know, sometimes, I think I’ve had more breaks than a fracture clinic.

“Because I say stuff like, ‘Oh have I missed the boat?’

“But then I looked at my horoscope the other day, and my stars told me something.

“They said, ‘The boat you think you missed is on its way back.’

“And I thought, ‘Oh, that’s nice. Maybe it’s coming back in.’”

Menopause the Musical, which first premiered in Orlando, Florida in 2001, sees four women discussing friendship, love and the menopause – all whilst shopping for lingerie at a Bloomingdale’s mall sale.

Arriving as a sequel to Menopause the Musical, Cruising Through the Menopause boasts an all-star cast and has been hailed as the “ultimate girls’ night out”.

The show will explore the same four characters’ lives five years on, where they will set sail on the high seas with no way of escape.

Crissy, who is making her musical theatre debut, told Express.co.uk how excited she was to be going on tour.

“I can’t wait,” she said. “Because Covid messed everything up, didn’t it? We were supposed to do it last year, but then the Covid came. Fingers crossed it’s fine this time – full steam ahead!”

She went on to add that her fellow actresses were “lovely” and that she “couldn’t wait” to join them on tour.

The tight four-person cast also includes Casualty’s Rebecca Wheatley, Eurovision Song Contest star Nicki French, and musical theatre actress Susie Fenwick, who starred in the West End’s Beautiful, The Carole King Musical.

Permanently residing in Harrah’s, Las Vegas, Menopause The Musical has been seen by over 12 million people (mostly women) worldwide, with one New York Times critic claiming: “It’s impossible not to laugh!”

Menopause The Musical 2 is on tour around the UK and Ireland from February.
