Stacey Solomon says she’s battled all her life with being called ‘dumb’ over her accent
Loose Women panelist Stacey Solomon has candidly admitted being called “dumb” and “stupid” is something she has had to “battle with all her life”.
The 30 year old, who was born and raised in Dagenham, London, opened up about about how some comments from trolls about her intelligence get to her.
Stacey, who recently revealed she is donating spare toilet roll to YMCA, has candidly opened up about misconceptions around her accent, which causes people to doubt her intellect.

When asked by Grazia which comments “get” to her, she said: “Things like I’m dumb and stupid – the things I’ve battled against all my life.
“I think my accent gives people preconceived ideas of who I am and my intelligence level – even just being happy! Some people think because you’re happy, you’re not all there,” she said before laughing.
However, Stacey, who has son Rex with boyfriend Joe Swash, is unfazed by other things trolls pick on her for – for example when she was recently accused of knowing about the coronavirus before anyone else.
She said: “It baffles me people have the time to comment on things like that.
“The other day someone said: ‘That Stacey’s such a tramp, she wears her clothes to bed, then gets up in the same clothes.’
“You’ve got to laugh. I probably am a bit of a scuzzbucket, but I’ve got three kids, two cats, a dog and a mortgage; what do you want from me?”
Despite getting used to the constant trolling in response to her Instagram posts, Stacey admitted she’s relieved social media wasn’t around when she was on The X Factor in 2009 or won I’m A Celebrity in 2010.
She explained: “None of us got that instant response people get now. Things were allowed to breathe – you were allowed to be on the show and wouldn’t know what someone thought of you so instantly.
“I don’t think I could handle some of the reality shows that are around now,” she said.
One thing she is praised for on her social media accounts is her body confidence.

Stacey admitted she doesn’t have time to worry about how she looks when trying to take a snap with her kids as she said: “If I’m on holiday I want pictures of all my kids, and they’re not going to stand there waiting for me to find the right light.
“I genuinely think I’ve got a nice body, I like looking at my body and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.
“I don’t have time to sit down and airbrush my lumps and bumps. I don’t want to either, because they’re all a part of my life and what I’ve been through and who I am.”
And she clearly appreciates the incredible feedback she’s had from her Instagram fans she gushed: “You have a community around you that’s like a blanket – it just makes you feel like you aren’t on your own.”
