Former BBC Breakfast host Steph McGovern, 38, has shared her excitement over returning to filming in a studio environment after she took a break from her self-titled Channel 4 programme, The Steph Show, due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions. The star was filming her new show from the home she shares with her partner and their baby, but decided to wait to record more episodes until she could work on the programme in a studio.

In view of her 403,000 Twitter followers, Steph announced her decision back in April in a post which read: “As much as I’ve loved doing a lockdown show at home I never expected it to go on this long.

“We’ve decided it’s time to have a break and give my family our home back.”

Revealing the date when the last show from her home would air, the host added: “The last locked down version of #TheStephShow will be next Thurs 7th May.

“Then the plan is to launch again at our fancy studios at Leeds Docks in a couple of months, once they’re safely up and running.”

Fortunately, Steph has now been able to return to filming as lockdown restrictions are beginning to ease in the UK.

The star, who left her hosting role on BBC Breakfast last year, shared a snap of herself outside her dressing room with a multi-coloured face mask on.

Dressed in a quirky shirt with a collar designed to look like a pair of manicured hands, Steph posed by a door, which featured a star with her name written on it in chalk.

Steph did not confirm whether she was filming The Steph Show or another TV project in her tweet, but gushed about being “excited to be back in a studio”.

She wrote: “All set for some socially distant filming……

“So excited to be back in a studio. #outondayrelease.”

Fans took to the comments section of Steph’s post to share their thoughts on her news.

The presenter didn’t specify the show she was talking about when she divulged the details.

Steph continued: “Although, I accidentally swore on telly and nearly got fired. But there we are.

“That’s another story for another day because quite frankly we need to go and f**k it.”

She then added: “I need a wee, that’s why I’m saying it.”
