Strictlys Karen Hauer addresses struggles after injury – I let myself down
Strictly: Karen Hauer learns she's disqualified from in challenge
Karen Hauer suffered a serious knee injury last year and the professional dancer admitted it was “hard” to cope with mentally.
Addressing her recovery, Karen told Express.co.uk: “It was really hard actually. I didn’t have any doubt that I would do it. I just found it really hard mentally because I felt like I let myself down.
“It’s something like this that can happen to anybody at any point. Any injuries, back injuries, rolling your ankle, anything like that.
“I almost felt like I let my body down and that I wasn’t strong enough. I wasn’t as strong as I thought I was. I was pretty much punishing myself mentally which was the wrong thing to do.”
She said: “I have really good physios and good people around me that helped me for two months. I had eight weeks to get back on my feet and back on the road.

“Obviously, for a performer, it’s tragic in a way when you find out you have a knee injury.
“I had a tear in my meniscus and the last thing I wanted to do was go under the knife. I wanted to take it upon myself with the people around me to recover and rehabilitate myself.”
The qualified fitness trainer said she had a good support system behind her which helped her get back to full health as she recently teamed up with Holland & Barrett.
“Partnering now with Holland and Barrett and taking all my supplements, my vitamins, and everything that I actually need has helped my recovery and helped me to stay stronger from the inside,” Karen explained.
