Taylor Swift Is Coming Out Full Force For Pride Month

Ok, that headline is a bit misleading and I feel bad for it, because sadly Taylor Swift is not coming out full force for Pride by declaring her love for puss (as far as we know she’s still strictly dickly and only dabbles in her love for pussy via her cats Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey and newest addition, kitten Benjamin Button. Yes, I hate myself for knowing the names of Taylor Swift’s cats). So sorry, Taylor and Karlie “shippers.”

But after months of speaking out for gay rights, Taylor is emerging as a full fledged LGBTQIA+ ally by kicking off Pride Month with a “stick it where the sun don’t shine” letter to Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander in support of the Equality Act and a rainbow infused performance at yesterday’s Wango Tango concert. Taylor, you little ROYGBIV baby giraffe.

At the stroke of midnight on June 1, Taylor tweeted her support of the Equality Act, which seeks to ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, by posting a letter she wrote to Lamar Alexander encouragingly him to vote yes on the bill. Lamar is a 78-year-old Republican who will probably cough some dust out of his lungs and death rattle off a no before voting positively for any queer initiative, as he has a 0% voting record on LGBTQIA+ interests, but it doesn’t hurt a gal for trying. In her letter she urged him to oppose the “Slate of Hate” in the state and called for her fans to do the same with the hashtag #lettertomysenator. Taylor has a new album to push, and the Taylor of the past wouldn’t even think of messing with her money by speaking out for political causes, but I guess this Taylor feels like she has enough money now or isn’t scared, because she’s going for it. Here’s Taylor’s tweet:

So I guess the ex-boyfriend-shit-talking-teenage Taylor Swift era (too many examples to link) is over… for now, and this is the era of political Taylor. I say, bring it on, Tay Tay! But I am reaching for a mask, because I do not want to inhale the sickly sweet smoke wafting off of the bonfire of burnt Taylor CDs that some mad conservatives are going to predictably threaten to start.
