Tess Daly reduced to tears watching husband Vernon Kay in I’m A Celebrity: ‘Welling up’

Tess Daly, 51, teared up as she saw her husband Vernon Kay, 46, become overcome with emotion, following a sweet gift from his campmate Beverley Callard, 64, after a trial at Gwrych Castle. The former Family Fortunes presenter broke down in tears yesterday as The Coronation Street star gifted him with a spa day treat after she took part in a challenge.

“We had to choose one person each,” explained Beverley.

“None of us chose ourselves… I chose Vernon. 

“I love you Vernon and I was thinking about Tess and your girls and I just thought he deserves it,” she added.

Taken aback by the revelation, Vernon responded: “Bev, thank you.”

Beverley remarked: “You’re crying.” 

Wiping tears from his eyes, Vernon joked: “I’m not crying”.

At home, Tess recorded the sweet moment and shared it with her Instagram followers.

She typed alongside the footage: “This made me well up [crying emoji] so sweet of @beverleycallard.

Tess, who has taken over Vernon’s Instagram account while he is appearing in I’m A Celebrity recently uploaded a sizzling throwback snap of the pair on his page.

The Strictly Come Dancing star uploaded a Cosmopolitan magazine cover of the pair from 2007 that featured the headline, “Tess and Vernon, ‘Our red-hot rules of love and lust’”.

Next to post, Tess typed: “A little #tbt of us two… what a headline!! T x @cosmopolitanuk.”

Underneath fans responded to the post as they could not get over how young the couple looked.

Another replied: “You are one lucky lady Tess.”

A third commented: “Treat her like the princess she is Vernon you are very blessed!!!”

While a fourth said: “Omg how cute are you two.”

It comes as the former model recently shared that it was nerve-wracking thinking about Vernon going “without food” while taking part in I’m A Celebrity.

The Strictly Come Dancing host said that her husband absolutely “loves food” and would struggle to “cope” in the Wales-based contest without it.

The pair have been married since 2003 and renewed their vows back in France five years ago.
