The X Factor star ‘Tesco Mary’ Byrne looks totally different as she shows off six stone weight loss
The X Factor star ‘Tesco Mary’ Byrne has shed six stone – after piling on the pounds when she starred on the show in 2010.
Mary – who competed against One Direction on The X Factor and came in fifth place – has revealed that her weight crept up to 21 stone during filming.
The 60 year old has now lost "half a person in weight" and she says the positive impact of this on her mental health means she no longer needs anti-depressants.

Mary told The Irish Mirror: "I looked at the picture of me on the show and me now and I honestly was shocked.
"Because it has happened gradually over the decade I guess I haven’t noticed it as much but yes, it is a shocking amount of weight loss.
“For me it was just a journey to get healthier and to live longer and to be there for my daughter Deborah.
"I was just under 21 stone on the show and I am now just over 15 stone.
"My daughter is the reason behind it and we fight like cats and dogs because she is so strict on me; but it has worked.
"She won’t let me do the shopping because she knows I buy rubbish, which I will; but she has made me realise that life is there for living."

Mary continued: "I still suffer from depression but because I feel so good I am talking to my doctor about coming off the anti depression tablets. I don’t need them any more."
Despite her impressive weight loss, Mary wants to lose two more stone and is confident that she will reach her goal by continuing to eat smaller portions and exercising regularly.
She positively said: “I still have a bit to go though, I want to lose two more stone before I can fee like I have reached the new me.
“But I know now that I will get there because I have realised how far I have come now.”
It’s not just her weight that is different, with Mary now rocking a short blonde hairstyle instead of her long brunette hair, which she had when she was on The X Factor.
