Celebrity Stylist Micaela Erlanger’s New Fashion Line Goes Up to Size 40
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be dressed by a celebrity stylist? If so, your ultimate fashion daydream is about to come true…kind of. Micaela Erlanger, who works A-listers like Lupita Nyong'o and Meryl Streep, is bringing her expertise to QVC, launching a brand new collection called StyleList, which will be both budget-friendly and size-inclusive.
Starting at 00 and going up to size 40 (aka XXS to 5X), Erlanger's designs focus on closet staples. The first drop is set to include timeless, versatile pieces such as a Classic Cardigan and French Cuff Shirt — two essentials that will likely come in handy for a variety of occasions. Plus, the price tag isn't too shabby, either; nothing in the collection tops $114 (and it starts at just $34).
“This collection was designed to take the guesswork out of getting dressed," Erlanger told InStyle over the phone prior to StyleList's launch. "I have been dressing celebrity clients and women of all different shapes and sizes for the last decade, and I really wanted to pour all of my years’ worth of knowledge into this collection, as it applies to how to get dressed. What to wear to make you feel good and look good."
Erlanger is also quick to point out how every piece is "mix and match," simply adding to the stuff you already own.
"These are the essential items that I believe every woman should have in her wardrobe. I really thought about which pieces would give a woman the most mileage and the most value."
One specific item that she thinks her customers will enjoy is the Boyfriend Blazer, a piece that she personally considers a go-to when putting together an outfit.
"I'd say my personal uniform is typically a pair of skinny pants or jeans, a blouse, a tank or a tee, and a blazer because it's just fool-proof. It's a fashion formula that works every single time, and I wanted to provide that same formula to my clients and to my customers," she says. "This one's double-breasted, and it can be worn open or it can be worn closed. It's a relaxed fit, and looks great whether you're petite or whether you're plus-size."
Of course, for those who are still working from home, it can be tough to think about wearing clothes other than the loungewear. However, Erlanger has plenty of reasons why it might be worth it to still get ready each morning.
"One of the hallmarks that my collection is based on is the ethos that when you look good, you feel good — that confidence and radiance is what shines through. I want to instill that in every single customer and every single client, and in everything that I do. So, just because we might be spending more time at home, I don't think that we should lose sight of it. In fact, I think it's more important now than ever to embrace the way you put yourself together. And yes, it might be more relaxed. Maybe your capsule closet is more important now than before, and you're choosing comfort. But you shouldn't have to sacrifice style. I believe that there is a harmonious place for those things, and I believe it lives in my collection."
A quick trick that Erlanger suggests is adding another layer to your look, whether you're hopping on a Zoom call or slowly transitioning back to the office.
"It's getting colder, you are starting to go outside more," she says. "All of these pieces are such classic staples. They’ll serve a purpose now, but they'll also be enjoyed in the future."
StyleList will be available online at QVC.com starting Sept. 9. Erlanger's on-air debut to show off every item will happen on Sept. 29, 2020 at 9 am — something, she tells us, she's very excited to do.
"Really being able to educate, to connect, and to share my knowledge with my customers on this platform and in this way was so important," she says. "I'm really excited about being able to talk to [the customer], to instill that confidence, to give her my advice, and all of my insider tips and tricks that, otherwise, are typically reserved for stars."
