Chewy tablets reveal just how rubbish your kids’ tooth brushing really is – and mums are raving about them – The Sun

A MUM has praised some chewable dental tablets from Boots which help her son see if he has brushed his teeth properly.

Paige Bradley raved about the Boots Kids Plaque Reveal Tablets, which cost just £2 on Facebook.

The mum said: “Sooo we tried these from boots today to see if my son is brushing his teeth properly and clearly he isnt but I think these are amazing for kids to know how to brush and understand you cant see all plaque.

“Now he understands why brushing is important £2 for 10 in boots …little chewable tablets.”

She shared an adorable cheeky photo of son Hudson beaming as he tries out the tablets.

In the shot her son’s teeth have been stained purpley-blue hue by the tablets, which indicate he has a build-up of older plaque.

The product description reads: “Plaque bacteria needs to be removed regularly to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

“Boots Expert Plaque Disclosing Tablets are tablets which use a colouring system to differentiate between newer and older plaque, helping you to see areas you should brush better next time.

“Red indicates newer plaque and blue older plaque, both have been missed by previous brushing.”

The instructions advise you should brush teeth as normal, then chew a tablet before rinsing the mouth without swallowing.

It continues: “Examine all areas. Residual red stain indicates newer plaque, whilst a blue stain indicates older plaque that has been missed by previous brushing. Brush your teeth again until the staining has gone.”

How often should you brush your teeth?

The British Dental Association confirmed that you should brush teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.

And you should spend at least two minutes making sure your pegs are properly clean.

Despite the name, brushing isn't just about the teeth.

It's important to clean the area between the teeth and gums to make sure no food is stuck there – as this is what causes cavities.

Make sure you brush all the surfaces of all your teeth and gently along the gum line: brush inside, outside, and the chewing surfaces of your teeth.

After brushing, spit out any excess toothpaste.

Don't rinse your mouth out after brushing, as it will wash away the concentrated fluoride in the remaining toothpaste.

Paige shared the images on the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group and it has racked up thousands of comments in response.

One person said: “Really good to see people using these. I work as a dental hygienist and we use these not only on kids but adults too.

“Really good tool to show where people are missing when brushing. I love them.”

Another added: “I work in a dentist and we would recommend them to parents.”

And someone else continued: “My mum used to use food colouring with us did exactly the same thing as these chewables."
