Hidden meaning behind Duchess Sophies £250,000 ‘vintage’ necklace

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh owns a lovely initial necklace with “E” for her husband Prince Edward, “L” for her daughter Lady Louise, and “J” for her son, James, Earl of Wessex.

The 58-year-old has worn the necklace many times before, although she previously wore it with a shell charm that she later took off.

Speaking previously to Express.co.uk, James Constantinou, the founder of Prestige Pawnbrokers of Channel 4’s Posh Pawn said: “The Duchess has worn this necklace on many royal appointments.

“It has the charm of a vintage piece but not only that, it has beautifully crafted initials added to hand next to the stone.

“Sometimes you just can’t always put a price on a personalised piece of jewellery, especially when details on the stone in terms of clarity and weight are not known.”

The expert said it might be worth a startling £250,000 because of its royal link and additional historic value.

Throughout the years, the Duchess of Edinburgh has worn the item numerous times.

The necklace is a favourite among royal admirers, and fan accounts frequently write about it on social media.

One fan account wrote on Instagram: “Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh’s initial necklace is a beautiful tribute to her family so that she always has them on her chest whenever she is out and about.”

The Princess of Wales is another royal who frequently embellishes her outfits with jewellery.

Meghan previously appeared at a women’s shelter in Vancouver wearing this stunning gold necklace with the words “Virgo” etched on the front.

This was a subtly chosen piece of jewellery in homage to her husband, Harry, who was born on September 15 and is a Virgo.
