For many of us in America, Thanksgiving means gathering with friends or family, whether we like it or not. But it turns out that feasting with loved ones is actually good for your health and can add longevity to your life.
Whether you plan to celebrate the holiday with relatives or your chosen family, we have every Thanksgiving recipe you need to host your best feast yet.
And, if you’re wary of tension that may arise at the dinner table, we have tips to help you maintain your composure and avoid family drama.
For me, Thanksgiving has always been about two things: eating an excessive amount of carbs and chasing my macaroni and cheese with a trip to the closest movie theater with my family. This year, that tradition lives on — minus the argument about which movie to see.
This year, “Queen & Slim,” an unconventional love story staring “Get Out” star Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith, was selected unanimously (and quite early on) as our family film of choice. Critics are already raving about the film directed by Melina Matsoukas, with a screenplay by Lena Waithe — but for us it’s a chance to see a movie that satisfies our craving for representation on the big screen and storytelling that encompasses the fullness of the black experience.
