Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'threw a tearful farewell lunch for their staff at The Goring hotel', says insider
PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle have been saying their final goodbyes as they prepare to step down from royal duties and relocate to the US.
And the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not forgotten about their staff when it comes to farewells, throwing them a goodbye lunch according to Page Six.
The couple treated members of their team to a lunch at The Goring Hotel in London’s Belgravia on Thursday last week, the publication reports.
And according to insiders it was an emotional affair.
A source told the publication: “Harry and Meghan have often done fun things like throwing pizza parties or hiring ice cream trucks for their staff, but they wanted to do something special going into this last week together.
"They toasted the team and thanked them for everything they have done. Some of the staffers cried."
They added: “Meghan and Harry really wanted to show their appreciation, they know how hard everyone has worked.”
Members of the Sussex team were notified of the redundancies in January according to reports.
While some staff members have been asked to fill other roles in the royal office, many have lost their positions in light of the couple’s departure.
Harry and Meghan were seen leaving the Goring Hotel on Thursday, the first time Meghan was pictured since quitting royal life.
This hotel in particular is a favourite among royals with Kate Middleton having stayed there the night before her wedding to Prince William back in 2011.
From March 31, Prince Harry and Meghan will no longer use their HRH titles, and will aim to be financially independent as they split their time between the UK and North America.
