Mum of FOURTEEN sons finally gives birth to baby girl and says it’s the ‘greatest gift’
A MUM with a whopping fourteen sons has recently given birth to her first daughter.
Kateri Schwandt and her husband, Jay, both 45, described the arrival of their first baby girl as the "greatest gift".
The pair from Michigan welcomed their daughter, Maggie Jayne, on Thursday, November 5, 2020, Honey Nine reports.
The tot was born at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, weighing a healthy 7lbs, 8 ounces.
Born to a mum who has been long outnumbered in her family, this little one has over a dozen big brothers to look out for her.
Proud dad Jay Schwandt said they are "overjoyed and beyond excited to add Maggie Jayne to our family.”
Speaking to the Detroit Free Press, Jay said, “This year has been memorable in so many ways, for so many reasons, but Maggie is the greatest gift we could ever imagine".
According to Honey Nine, their oldest child, Tyler, 28, said his parents thought they'd never have a daughter.
He added that there's likely nothing pink in the family's home.
The large family, who live in the rural community of Lakeview, Michigan, have appeared in local and national news outlets over the years.
Kateri and Jay met when they were freshmen at Gaylord High School and Gaylord St. Mary’s and got married in 1993.
Kateri has a Master's degree in social work, and Jay has a law degree and owns a land surveying company.
The Schwandts' dog Boomer is, as luck would have it, also a boy.
The family share a passion for the outdoors, and enjoy deer hunting on their farm, fishing and planting trees.
