Mum shows off adorable chore chart she made for her daughter to help with the cleaning & parents are copying her idea
A MUM has shared the adorable chore list she made for her toddler to get her helping out around the house – and fellow parents are loving her idea.
Brittney Soberanis is a firm fan of lists, and noticed her two-and-a-half year old daughter, Lily, loved getting involved too.
The stay-at-home mum, from California, decided to make her daughter her very own chore list, which she taped to the fridge.
The weekly plan includes a morning routine, with tasks including 'brush teeth', 'clean breakfast dishes' and 'make the bed', as well as an evening routine which involves 'put dirty clothes in laundry' and 'pick up toys'.
And there’s even room for extra tasks, such as sweeping and feeding the dog, all accompanied by drawings of the chores to help Lily learn.
Brittney told Fabulous Digital Lily now loves checking off her tasks once she’s completed them, as she explained how she got her daughter interestedin helping out.
She said: “From the time she could stand she would help me in the kitchen mixing ingredients and moving clothes from the washer to the dryer.
“As she got old enough to take on some bigger challenges I made her little Daily Routines plan.
“She has simple things she does everyday to take care of herself and her things, like brush her teeth, put her clothes in the hamper, pick up her toys.
“Then she gets to pick one or two other tasks to work on throughout the week that are her ‘ways to help my family’.
“These are more advanced tasks like feeding the dog or dusting.”
It seems Lily has been inspired by Brittney’s own chore list, which she created after being inspired by a post on Etsy.
The mum continued: “Like mother like daughter, she LOVES checking off her tasks after she completes them.
“It's also really helped guide her through the transitions of the day better.
“She knows there are certain tasks we do before we leave for the park, or begin an art project.”
It seems Lily even reminds her mum to keep on top of household tasks, as Brittney revealed: “If I try to skip one, she'll now remind me, ‘No mama, clean up the bed.’
“She's definitely still a kid and leaves toys from one end of the house to the other but that's ok.”
Rather than setting up a structured routine, Brittney explained the chore chart was a way to introduce Lily to cleaning and responsibilities.
She added: “Our main goal right now is to encourage her desire to help and set the groundwork of personal responsibility and looking for opportunities to help others.”
Brittney shared her chart with other parents on Facebook group Tips to Organize & Declutter Home and Life.
She said: “My little one has been wanting to help mama lately so we got this cute chore chart set for her!
“It’s all easy and fun stuff but she loves checking off her little tasks (maybe a little too much when she checks things off we haven’t done yet!).
“I just wanted to share this in case it was helpful to other parents!”
Hundreds of mums liked the post, with one woman saying: “Love this I am gonna use this for my little one. Thank you for sharing.”
Another commented: “What a great idea!!”
