The Queen is rarely seen without a brooch on her lapel and three strings of pearls around her neck. But Her Majesty owns other lesser-known pieces of jewellery too.
One of these pieces is a gold wristwatch.
Created by the most expensive watch brand in the world, Jaeger LeCoultre, the watch is powered by the smallest movement ever invented.
At 14mm long, less than 5mm wide and weighing barely one gram, the tiny, hand-wound calibre remains the smallest mechanical movement in the world to this day.
This is called the Jaeger LeCoultre 101 movement.
Her Majesty was gifted the watch, which is named ‘La Reine’, by Vincent Auriol.
Mr Auriol was the President of France from 1947 to 1953.
He gave the Queen the valuable piece just before her Coronation in 1953.
Her Majesty wore the watch for the special day, alongside other impressive jewellery, such as the Coronation Necklace, made by Garrard for Queen Victoria in 1858.

The watch is embellished with 110 tiny diamonds, which are laid out on a narrow gold wristchain.
The watch’s face is square and does not feature any numbers, Roman or otherwise.
The piece is still made by Jaeger LeCoultre today, but only in limited numbers.
It retails today at a huge price of £135,000.
However, H&T Pawnbrokers have estimated how much the Queen’s watch would be worth if sold today.
It would cost £3million, according to the company’s experts.
What’s more, Her Majesty has two almost identical versions of the watch.
In 2012, Jaeger LeCoultre presented her with a white gold equivalent to the original for her Diamond Jubilee.
The Queen has been seen wearing the Jaeger LeCoultre watch since her Coronation, but she has other timepieces in her collection.
Perhaps Her Majesty’s second most impressive watch is a Patek Philippe model which comes attached to a pearl bracelet.
Another watch is from the same designer but is slightly more subtle – the round watch face is attached to a yellow gold band.
Queen Elizabeth wore this watch during her first Covid speech in April 2020, pairing it with a green dress and the Queen Mary turquoise and diamond brooch.
Another classic watch Her Majesty owns is an Audemars Piguet model from the brand’s Jules Audemars collection.
Also yellow gold, this is similar to the Patek Phillipe she wore to address the nation last year.
