‘Shy’ Carrie Symonds lets ‘charismatic alpha mate’ Boris Johnson shine and is ‘wary of PDAs’, says body language expert
CARRIE Symonds was keen to let Boris Johnson shine during last night’s election win, according to a body language expert.
The “first lady” stood by the PM's side as he re-entered Number 10 following a landslide victory for the Conservatives.
And body language expert Judi James has weighed in on Carrie’s actions, claiming that she was “wary of PDAs” and keen to let her partner have his moment.
Speaking exclusively to Fabulous Digital Judi said: “If Carrie's body language looks familiar it's because it's a ritual adopted by a lot of new partners being taken home and introduced to the family for the first time at Xmas.
“Shy, deferential and taking a back seat, while cutting back on any PDAs in case anything too tactile or flirty has his nan choking on her mince pie.”
Judi compared Carrie to US First Lady Melania Trump, claiming both women suffer from role ambiguity.
She continued: “Carrie is currently suffering from role ambiguity, plus, like Melania Trump during her husband's first few months in power, she's being very careful not to steal limelight from her charismatic alpha mate.
“Carrie's dimpled smiles and crinkled eyes let Boris know she's both delighted and proud of him but her occasional touch rituals look tentative, as though they've agreed the relationship side of his life is not something he's keen to make a feature of.”
Here Judi analyses Carrie’s key moments…
Proud and loving
This very proud and loving smile is aimed at Boris from the sidelines and shows low-key support from Carrie and the dog.
Boris' entourage
There's a spatial distance between Carrie and Boris that can make her look unassuming, more like 'entourage' than full-on partner.
Rather than holding her head high Carrie even raises one hand to her face in a partial cut-off or hide ritual here.
Alpha mate
Boris kept his victory signals to a minimum after his massive win but this splay did look pure alpha silverback.
Carrie meanwhile was almost running out of shot, using that one hand 'hide' gesture again.
Hand of approval
This hand of approval and ownership on Boris's shoulder looks tentative, as though she's not sure she should take that role in public yet.
Boris doesn't reciprocate although their facial expressions do look quietly loving.
Supportive arm
Carrie's support is clearly illustrated her by the arm around Boris's back.
Shy and wary
There's been no PM and wife style poses from the couple yet although some side by side poses might appear later today.
Here Carrie looks shy and slightly wary of the public and their response to her, offering a low, youthful wave from the steps of no.10.
