Alan Sugar is well known for his role on the UK version of The Apprentice. He has also had many successful business ventures that have helped him top up his bank balance.

He has an estimated fortune of £1.4billion, Spear’s Magazine has reported.

According to the Sunday Times Rich List, he became a billionaire in 2015.

Alan was born in Hackney, London on March 24, 1947.

He started his career young and began earning a wage when he was just 16-years-old.

When he was a teenager, Alan worked at a greengrocers and as a salesman for radio aerials and electrical goods.

In 1968, he founded his company Amstrad that began as a wholesaler before specialising in consumer electronics.

In just over 10 years, the company was listed on the London Stock Exchange and it doubled its profits each year during the 1980s.

The business mogul continued to boost his bank account when he became the owner of Tottenham Hotspurs football club, which he bought in June 1991.

Alan had a majority stake in the club for 10 years before selling a chunk of shares for a whopping £22million.

In 2007, he topped up his earnings by selling Amstrad after owning the company for 40 years.

It was bought by BSkyB in a deal worth a mammoth £125million.

Alan has also had a lucrative career in property and first set up Amsprop Estates in 1985.

This helped the TV personality build up an impressive portfolio of property.

The company is still owned by Alan and run by his son Daniel Paul Sugar.

In 2005, Alan became the star of the UK version of the Apprentice which ran each year until 2019.

In the show, budding entrepreneurs compete for a £250,000 investment and a business partnership with Alan.

This helped him earn even more as he has joined the team of some successful ventures.

While Alan has been on the BBC programme for many years, he has reportedly not taken a fee for this.

Instead he is thought to donate his presenting salary to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
