Aldi has discontinued popular Mr Kipling dupe – and shoppers will be devastated | The Sun
ALDI has discontinued a popular Mr Kipling dupe and shoppers will be devastated.
The bargain supermarket has "temporarily" removed its popular Battenberg cake from shelves.
One disappointed shopper took to Twitter to ask Aldi after not being able to find the Holly Lane cake in stores.
They said: "AldiUK can you tell me what’s happened to the Holly Lane Battenberg it’s not been available for weeks!
"Please don’t tell me it’s gone to Battenberg heaven."
In response, the supermarket confirmed that the cakes are "temporarily discontinued".

Another shopper replied asking if they'll be back to which Aldi said it was unable to say yes or no.
The Sun has asked Aldi if and when the Batternberg cake will be back and we'll update the piece once we know more.
At the time of writing, the Holly Lane Battenberg was out of stock online.
The sweet treat has proved to be a popular choice among cake fans.

A Battenberg cake consists of a light sponge cake with four cake pink and yellow sections stuck together with jam.
It is also covered in a layer of marzipan icing.
The original version, by Mr Kipling, costs anywhere up to £2.50.
At the time of writing, Tesco was selling it for £1.75 and Sainsbury's for £2.50.
As with many fan favourites, supermarkets do also have their own Battenberg dupes.
We compared Aldi's with Mr Kipling and found that when it came to taste, there really wasn't much in it.
The dupe we tested at the time cost 79p in comparison to the real deal which then was going for £1.60 – that's double the cost.
If you love a Battenberg but can't justify the cost of the real thing, there are other dupes you can go for.
Tesco and Marks & Spencer have both been known to have their own version in the past.
We couldn't find them online though so it might be worth checking in store.
But Aldi has also brought back some popular items too.
Earlier this year the discount store brought back its famous egg chair.
The coveted furniture item routinely sells out within mere hours of going on sale – so shoppers keen to bag one will have needed to act fast.
The popular Specialbuy gained a legion of fans online, including influencers like Mrs Hinch, who shared an envy-inducing snap of her cosy garden set up with the hanging chair.
In 2021, Aldi also brought its Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake back, despite legal action from Marks and Spencer.
The retailer brought a limited edition version of the Cuthbert the Caterpillar cake back to shops despite the ongoing legal case.
Other brands are also getting in on the action.
Muller delighted fans by bringing back one of its much-loved yoghurt flavours just this week.
Many have been demanding a comeback of this popular flavour with tweets and petitions, and finally, their pleas have been answered.
The Muller Corner Mississippi Mud Pie Inspired launches in Asda stores nationwide on Monday (July 24).
The nostalgic flavour was first launched in 1997 and was last seen in 2018.
