Amazon European Originals Creative Chief Daniel Grabiner Exits, Replaced by Tara Erer
Daniel Grabiner, Amazon’s head of originals for the U.K. and Northern Europe, has exited the company.
He is set to be replaced by Tara Erer, who is head of local original movies for Amazon Studios.
He will formally bow out in mid-October to set up his own production company.
The move comes just months after Grabiner was given additional responsibilities and took on the Northern European territories including Germany, the Nordics and the Netherlands. Under his watch Amazon released shows including “Clarkson’s Farm” and the U.K. remake of “Call My Agent,” which was not renewed for a second season.
His boss, Georgia Brown, the former head of European originals, left the streaming platform last year and has not been replaced.
“The exciting news to share today is that Tara Erer will be stepping into Dan’s role, and they are already collaborating on a smooth handover,” head of international originals James Farrell, said in an internal memo. “Tara has been a key part of the local originals team for 4 years now, leading our centralized original movies team, and in that capacity working with teams around the world on titles like ‘Culpa Mia,’ ‘Sayen’ and ‘Argentina 1985.’ She has shown great taste in the kinds of films customers want to watch, and she has proven to be a wonderful teammate and collaborator across our team, CAM, BA, production, finance and many others. She has been U.K. based for over a year, and I am so happy she will be remaining in London and taking on this key role of leading the local originals teams in Northern Europe.”
Grabiner said: “Thank you Jen, James and the countless innovators who make Amazon such a thrilling place to work. Thank you especially to the uniquely talented teams behind each show, the craftspeople bringing stories to life and delivering them to audiences. Those are giant shoulders to stand on.”
