Andrew Lloyd Webber’s team tells Donald Trump to stop using ‘Memory’ at rallies

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s team has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign over using his song, “Memory,” at political rallies, Page Six has learned. The letter was sent by the composer’s UK-based company, Really Useful Group, Webber’s reps confirmed to Page Six.

The miffed missive was mailed out after original “Cats” star Betty Buckley last month urged the show’s legendary composer to stop Trump’s team from playing her signature song, “Memory,” at rallies in advance of the GOP convention.

Buckley and Webber are just the latest recording artists to object to their tunes being played at Trump rallies after the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Tom Petty’s estate, Rihanna, and Panic! at the Disco have all objected.

Buckley has further twisted the musical knife, we hear, by suggesting Trump instead use a different Webber song from “Phantom of the Opera,” “Poor Fool, He Makes Me Laugh.”

The Stones took things a step further last month by threatening a licensing lawsuit via their label if Trump ignores a cease-and-desist.
