Burger King U.S to give away free kids meals to families that relied on school food

Schools are closing due to the coronavirus outbreak. Kids’ education will be interrupted and parents will have to find ways to keep them entertained at all hours. But more than that, it also means that many young ones will go without a hot meal every day, which is devastating.

Thankfully, for those children in the America Burger King have decided to do their bit to help with this problem, electing to give away two free kids’ meals to those who are in need, with every purchase that is made on their app.

The fast food chain have announced that this will come in to play on Monday 23 March, and the generous offer is available for all app purchases for delivery and drive-thru. However, the only down side is it can only be utilised once per customer.

The helpful deal will run everyday through until 6 April. Unfortunately this offer is not available for in the UK for British school children. However, on home soil, Burger King are still helping out with those tackling the pandemic.

The UK branches will be giving away free takeaway drinks, hot or cold, to those that are working in the emergency services. This includes NHS workers and social care workers. High street favourite Pret also recently announced that they would be giving NHS workers free hot drinks alongside a 50% discount on all their other foods.

Of the kids meal deal in the US Burger King CEO Jose Cil said: "There’s a tremendous impact on children, as a result of all the school closures. It’s one of the hardest hit groups of Americans, because they rely so significantly on school, for lunch … Monday through Friday, for the better part of the year.

"The challenge here is that when you’re dealing with a circumstance like this, if we don’t utilize businesses like Burger King, Tim’s and Popeyes … It’s really difficult for Americans to be fed, because it’s going to be difficult for them to get all their other food and necessities from the supermarket."
