HOUSEHOLDS struggling to stay warm at home may want to consider buying an electric heater, instead of reaching for the thermostat.
The right electric gadget can save you money compared to central heating.
While the energy is expensive, heaters are great for only warming up one room or if you only need to heat an area for a short period.
It comes as the average household's yearly energy bill rose to £2,500 on October 1 – up from £1,971.
Energy bills were initially set to be frozen at £2,500 for the typical household for two years, but the guarantee will now only last until April.
After April, help will be targeted at hard-up households, although details of how haven't yet been confirmed.
