Drake dressed up as his dad, Dennis Graham, for Halloween after public feud
Just Drake and his old man getting back to basics.
The “Nice for What” rapper, 32, channeled his own dad, Dennis Graham, for his most recent Halloween costume. Stepping out on Wednesday night, Drake wore a knit skull cap, glasses, fake beard and linen tunic to perfectly match his flamboyant father’s style.
It’s surprising that Drake would honor his dad after the two got into a public argument earlier this month. Graham claimed that his son’s lyrics about their strained relationship were exaggerated in order to sell albums.
“I have always been with Drake,” Graham told Nick Cannon in a radio interview. “I talk to him if not every day, then every other day. We really got into a deep conversation about that. I said, ‘Drake, why are you saying all of this different stuff about me? This is not cool.’ He [said], ‘Dad, it sells records.’”
However, Drizzy fired back. “Woke up today so hurt man,” the rapper wrote on Instagram. “My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him. It’s sad when family gets like this, but what can we really do … that’s the people we are stuck with.”
Continued Drake, “Every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept.”
Some of the Toronto native’s fiery lyrics about his childhood include jabs at his absentee father. In “You & The Six,” he references Graham’s newfound rap career and their turbulent relationship.
“Having conversations with mama, we start talkin’ ’bout dad / You know he dropping a single, he saying this is his window / That n—a still wearing linen, that n—a still in the club,” Drake raps. “He made mistakes throughout his life that he still doesn’t accept / But he just want our forgiveness, and f—k it, look how we living I’m content with this story, who are we not to forgive him?”
It seems the two have reconciled, with Graham publicly sending birthday wishes to his son on social media last week. “Happy Birthday to the most wonderful human being on this planet,” the star’s father wrote on Instagram.
It’s unclear if Graham attended his son’s mobster-themed birthday party last week, but other notable guests at the bash included Adele, Shay Mitchell and a newly single Kylie Jenner, the latter of whom sparked romance rumors with the birthday boy himself.
Perhaps we’ll see the Grammy winner’s son Adonis dressing up as his famous father for Halloween next year.
