‘Eternals’: Another 2 ‘Game of Thrones’ Actors May Reunite in the MCU
Eternals is one of the biggest movies of the year. It introduces a huge ensemble cast of new characters, including Game of Thrones actors Kit Harington and Richard Madden, who played Jon Snow and Robb Stark. However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be seeing another Game of Thrones reunion between Kit Harington and Daenerys Targaryen actor Emilia Clarke.
‘Eternals’ is the MCU beginning for ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Kit Harington
Eternals brings Harington into the MCU as Dane Whitman. He’s introduced as a museum worker and Sersi’s (Gemma Chan) love interest. Dane provided a sense of human normalcy for Sersi and comedic relief for the audience. He doesn’t have a huge role in Eternals, but it’s clear that he will have a bigger part to play in the future. Sersi has feelings for him, but he has a destiny of his own.
Some Game of Thrones actors have had trouble getting parts after the series ending that angered fans around the world. However, other actors have been able to continue getting parts, including Tyrion actor Peter Dinklage. Harington’s MCU involvement is a huge deal. Madden’s Ikaris makes quite an impact and he isn’t the last Game of Thrones actor that will enter the MCU.
Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke may have a ‘Game of Thrones’ reunion
The Hollywood Reporter talked with Harington about all things Eternals. He explained his initial hesitance to join another franchise, but that the character leads to a lot of opportunities. However, the Game of Thrones reunion with Madden wasn’t very impactful for Harington. They didn’t work together on set very often on the HBO series. Harington explained that the reunion seems to mean more for fans than it does to them as actors.
Clarke previously confirmed that she will be starring in MCU’s upcoming Secret Invasion. However, her involvement hasn’t been fully explained. Nevertheless, it means that Harington and Clarke might be reuniting once again. The THR interviewer asked him if they had prepared for that reunion.
“No, we haven’t,” Harington said. “That would slightly blow my mind, I think, because me and Emilia had a lot together. So if we ended up crossing paths in a different franchise, I think we’d have a good old giggle about that.”
The MCU is a big secret
Marvel doesn’t joke around when it comes to security. Leaks have happened, but the studio takes careful measures to make sure that their biggest secrets stay that way. However, this isn’t Harington’s first time working with sensitive information with HBO’s Game of Thrones.
THR asked Harington if he was more afraid of Marvel or HBO’s security. He responded: “If we’re talking about security as in spoilers, I’m terrified of Marvel. (Laughs.)”
Clarke previously told Entertainment Weekly, “I’m already scared. The first people I spoke to from Marvel were their security team and I am convinced that there is a man outside my house. There’s been a car parked there for a long time, and I swear to God, he’s undercover.”
