Fergie compares herself to ‘fabulous’ Meghan but she won’t give her advice
Sarah Ferguson likened herself to Meghan Markle while praising her nephew's wife for being "modern and fabulous".
The Duchess of York spoke about the former actress during an interview with Vogue Arabia , saying she "knows what Meghan is going through" because she has been in her shoes.
However she admitted that she won't give Meghan advice, claiming that it's always taken out of context.
She said: "It must be hard for Meghan, and I can relate to her.
"I believe she's modern and fabulous. She was famous before. She is great. Why can't Meghan be great? Why can't she be celebrated?
"I tend not to give advice because it is taken out of context, but I have been in Meghan’s shoes, and I still am.
"There’s always a twist of negativity and it just gets so sad and tiring; it’s hard and mean. I abhor bullying and I feel desperately sorry for the pain they must be going through because I’ve been through it."
Asked how she dealt with the negativity reports, Sarah admitted she "self-sabotaged" and "didn't think of the ramifications" of what she did.
During the interview, the Duchess spoke honestly about her relationship with her late sister-in-law Princess Diana.
She says the two women brought "modern etiquette and fun" to the Royal Family after marrying brothers Charles and Andrew.
She said: "Me and Diana had the best time. We really did, no question. I loved her with all my heart."
In the interview Sarah also defended her ex-husband Prince Andrew, labelling the scandal surrounding his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein "nonsense".
Asked about healthcare in the UAE, she replied: "When I talk about Prince Andrew, I talk about family because the last six months have been hard on the girls and me.
"To see such a wonderful man go through such enormous pain. He is the best man I know.
"It's just incredible what he has done for Britain, and it's all nonsense [her voice raises as she alludes to the Epstein scandal], so I talk about familyhood, and I'm very strong about it."
The scandal surrounding Prince Andrew's friendship with billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein has been described as one of the Royal Family's "biggest humiliations in history" .
His car-crash interview threw the Royal Family into an unprecedented crisis that was worsening by the day, and after discussions and grovelling apologies the Queen summoned her favourite son to Buckingham Palace and effectively "sacked" him.
