Frankie Essex: I rushed Luella to the doctors after finding a lump on her head

Former TOWIE star Frankie Essex gave birth to her twins, whom she shares with boyfriend Luke Love, last May and has since shared updates while settling into life with babies Logan and Luella.

In her exclusive column for OK! , Frankie has discussed a range of topics related to motherhood – from her first social outing with the twins and a blackout at her home when they were just a few days old, to “feeling more human again” as the babies dropped their dreaded 2am feed.

This week, Frankie talks about how she rushed Luella to the doctors after finding a lump on her head, how the twins have started saying a new word, and how they are like mini versions of their parents.

I found a lump on Luella's head

It was where her soft spot was and it felt a bit risen. I took her to the GP to get her checked over, and I asked the GP 'do you recommend a scan?' and she said 'well not really because of the radiation' but they could ultrasound it. I was happy to pay for private but I needed a referral.

So on Monday morning, we took her to the private hospital as I'd got the referral and everything and they scanned her head with an ultrasound and everything was fine. What they said was it's where the soft spot is, her skull's fused together and it's just created a little bump and it might go, it might not, but there's 100% confirmation it's nothing to worry about.

When I came out of there and got to the car I just burst into tears, I think it was all the emotional build-up from the night before worrying, obviously, you just start thinking of the worst-case scenario.

The twins have started saying a couple of new words

They still don't say mum, but Luella's started to say 'duck' and Logan's started to say 'Teddy', which is the name of our dog. It's really cute but they still don't say mum which is a bit annoying.

Both of their first words were 'Dad' and 'Dada' but now it's Teddy and Duck. Every morning I say to them 'Where's Teddy' and they look for him, so Logan started saying 'Teddy'.

They went to a new playgroup this week

They used to be in a playgroup called Baby Sensory, which you can take babies to until they're one so they've grown out of that one now and it's their graduation in a couple of weeks. So I've tried them at a new one and it's about 20 children in this massive soft play put up in a hall and they just let them run free.

It's so lovely and it's only for their age group so all the children are around the same age. They loved it, Logan was just off on his own, Louella was a bit wary at first but once she was settled in she was just off exploring.

They get frustrated when they can't get out of their pram

The weather was beautiful so we went to Victoria Park in London. The twins went on some swings and slides, with our help obviously. But they were really wanting to get out of their pram and explore on their own but they're still at that age where they aren't walking yet so it's a bit frustrating for them.

So sometimes it can be a bit difficult to take them to a park because they want to get out and crawl around, but when there are so many other children just running about it's just not safe.

The twins are so different sometimes

Luella's literally looking outside in the garden. We've got loads of flowers and she's just like she's dying to get out in the garden. She just does her own thing. She kind of like reads the room and is just so nosy and always wants to know what's going on.

Logan is just happy with his truck and his wheels. He's literally just pushing a truck around, but she's interested in everything else. They're so different it's mad.

Logan's a lot like me but Luella is more like her dad

Luke loves a book for instance and so does Luella. She'll sit there and let you read her a book and turn the pages, while Logan will just take the book from you and want to play with it like a toy.

So Luella's more like Luke in her personality, but she looks like me. She's got my nose, exactly my nose, and my dad's nose. And at the moment she's got short hair and she just looks like my dad. And Logan's got my teeth – he looks like he's got a Snapchat filter on 'cause he's got so many teeth.
