From ‘Duchess Difficult’ to ‘Me Gain’ – the nicknames Meghan Markle has reportedly had
Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle went pubic with their romance in 2016, Meghan has become one of the most talked about woman in the world. The brunette has gone from being a US star to a member of the British Royal Family. The Duchess of Sussex has broken away from royal traditions in a number of ways, but not without ruffling some feathers. Meghan – who is an American divorcee and the first person of mixed-race heritage to become a member of the British Royal Family – has shown she’s unafraid to break with convention and royal traditions.

However, this determination to do things her way has come at a cost, with the Duchess apparently given some less than positive nicknames.
Just this week, she landed another from royal aides, who reportedly believe “she’ll only last three years” in her marriage to Harry.
According to the Sunday Times, a senior royal has now nicknamed the former actress a “degree wife” – a standard degree in the UK is three years long, hence the term.
This is just the latest label Meghan has been given, with the 37-year-old reportedly receiving several others.
So what are Meghan’s supposed nicknames? According to Royal sources, she’s been called everything under the sun from “Duchess Difficult” to “Hurricane Meghan.”
“Duchess Difficult”
The mum-of-one – to one-month-old Archie – has been at the centre of rumours about her “dictatorial” behaviour and alleged 5am emails, which are said to have led to several staff members quitting.
Last year, it emerged staff had branded her “Duchess Difficult” as a result.
According to a source, Meghan’s “string of demands” were beginning to take their toll on staff members, leading to the insulting label.
“Meghan can be difficult. She has very high standards and is used to working in a Hollywood environment,’ the source explained.
“However, there’s a different degree of respect in the royal household and Kate has always been very careful about how she has acted around staff.”
“Me-Gain”
In March, it was reported that Meghan had ruffled feathers among staff at Kensington Palace once again. As a result, they were said to have given her a new nickname, “Me-Gain.”
Referring to the sometimes vicious attacks Sarah Ferguson was subject to after she wed Prince Andrew, an insider told Tatler magazine: “Meghan has seen nothing like that – even though staff at Kensington Palace are now calling her “Me-Gain.”
“Hurricane Meghan”
From her modern fashion choices to her closeness to the public, Meghan has come under fire countless times for appearing to break Royal protocol.
This is said to have shaken up the Royal family, and also landed her yet another name, “Hurricane Meghan”.
A Palace source told the Mail on Sunday: “Meghan is being told she needs to start dressing less like a Hollywood star and more like a Royal.”
“Tungsten”
Prince Charles was the first to name Meghan after the tough metal. The nickname was apparently coined as an affection reference to her resilience.
”Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softy,” a source said.
