Hairstylist shares ‘amazing’ tip for women with grey hair that’s ‘literal magic’
Hair ageing is an inevitable fact of life but it can still look fabulous once it goes grey or silver – if you know how to look after it properly.
Lighter hair (whether you’ve embraced the grey fully or gone blonde to manage it better) runs the risk of developing a yellow tinge over time.
Hair and makeup artist Glam Girl Gabi, who has 275,000 YouTube subscribers, explained that when hair has no pigmentation or very little pigmentation, it can easily pick things up from the environment.

But going grey does not mean you’re doomed to have yellow locks. The hair expert shared a crucial tip to restore its real colour and make you look more youthful in no time.

Gabi said: “My first ageing hair tip for you – whether you’re a man or a woman – is to regularly include a purple product in your routine.”
She explained: “It sounds very strange but purple is the opposite of yellow on the colour wheel, and because of that it neutralises yellow tones and turns them bright and icy.”
Investing in a purple product will restore your dynamic natural colour. Glam Girl Gabi said: “It’s literally magic, it’s amazing how it works.”

She recommended incorporating a purple shampoo into your routine around two or three times per week if your hair is white, salt and pepper or blonde.
She suggested going for one that not only neutralises yellow but hydrates, strengthens and adds volume (like her Better Not Younger product).
Glam Girl Gabi is partnered with Better Not Younger, and recommended the Purple Brightening Shampoo For Gray & White Hair.
However, purple products can be purchased from countless haircare businesses in the UK – and they don’t have to cost the earth.
A 200ml bottle of L’Oreal Paris Elvive Colour Protect Anti-Brassiness Purple Shampoo for Coloured or Highlighted Hair costs just £6.
The product description reads: “Highlighted brunette, blonde, and grey hair can become yellow and brassy over time.
“How does it work? Purple colour is the opposite of yellow on the colour wheel, the purple within the Purple shampoo formula helps neutralise yellow tones.
“Our new specialist colour-correcting Purple formula nourishes hair & neutralises unwanted yellow, orange, and brassy tones in just one use, to help leave hair looking bright and beautiful. Suitable for blonde, highlighted, and silver hair.”
