I can't stop thinking about my daughter's 15-year-old best friend
DEAR DEIDRE: I’M infatuated with my daughter’s best friend. She is only 15 and I know this is wrong but how do I stop myself? I am 43.
My wife works long shifts as a carer. I’ve been working from home while our daughter has been home-schooling. She is 15 too.
Her best friend from school comes round to ours. We have a decent-sized garden so the girls can study outside together – and sunbathe when it’s hot.
One day, I looked out of an upstairs window and it took my breath away. My daughter’s friend is growing into a beautiful young woman and I can’t get the image of her in a bikini out of my mind. She really turns me on.
I don’t want to have thoughts like this. How can I stop?
DEIDRE SAYS: You are stuck at home so missing contact with colleagues, unable to meet with friends, your wife’s tired and distracted – then in walks this lovely young girl.
So it’s not that surprising she grabbed your attention but, as you know, acting on your urges would be disastrous, so tell your inner self a firm no.
If you struggle with that, find support at stopitnow.org.uk (0808 1000 900).
Stay away from the girls as much as possible and focus on your relationship with your wife. Cosset her and work on strengthening the affection and bond between you.
