Inside David Beckhams luxury £20k-a-night Qatar hotel as hes forced to check out early
David Beckham has been forced to leave his £20k-a-night luxury accommodation in Doha after fans discovered where he was staying.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid football player, who is one of Qatar's World Cup ambassadors, was staying at the Baraha View suite in the five-star Mandarin Oriental located in the city's exclusive Mesheirb district for less than a week before checking out.
He was not pictured at last night's England v Wales game and it is unknown whether he is still in Qatar.
David's accommodation was kitted out with its own dining area, private concierge, open air courtyard and private pool and gym.
David is thought to have checked out at the weekend, according to the Daily Mail, as it became common knowledge in the area that he was staying at the hotel.
The England legend was referred to as "Sir David" by staff, who are keen to have him stay in the future.
"He wasn't seen much at all by the other guests because he had a lovely suite which is like a hotel within a hotel, meaning he didn't need to mix with them," a source said.
"He's been very polite and charming to the staff and seems like a very decent man. Sir David is one of the most famous men in world football and it's been an honour having him here. It's a pity he's no longer here but I'm sure he'll be back. Who wouldn't love staying here?"
During his stay, the football ace reportedly enjoyed the use of a personal chef while taking in the stunning views from the luxury city suite.
David has faced immense backlash over his involvement in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he's acting as an ambassador for a rumoured £150 million fee.
The negative reaction to his role stems from concerns over the country’s criminalisation of homosexuality and other human rights violations.
Comedian Joe Lycett famously threatened to shred £10,000 if David didn't quit his role as a Qatar ambassador.
Birmingham-born comedian Joe unveiled the deadline last week in a video message posted on social media in which he offered to donate £10,000 of his own money to LGBTQ+ charities if David ended the sponsorship before the tournament started.
If not, Joe said he would livestream himself shredding the money, along with David’s “status as gay icon”.
Despite post a video of himself shredding what appears to be £10,000 in an industrial-sized shredder on social media, he later confirmed he did not destroy the money.
"I haven't quite told you the whole truth. Because the truth is the money that went into the shredder was real, but the money that came out was fake," said Joe.
"I would never destroy real money. I would never be so irresponsible. In fact, the ten grand had already been donated to LGBTQ+ charities before I even pressed send on the initial tweet last week."
"He continued: I never expected to hear from you. It was an empty threat designed to get people talking. In many ways, it was like your deal with Qatar, David – total b******t from the start."
