Leah McSweeney and Eboni K. Williams are bonded for life.
The “Real Housewives of New York” stars have both shared their personal struggles with their ailing grandmothers on the Bravo show.
On Tuesday’s episode, Williams, 37, revealed that her grandmother had passed away, two weeks after McSweeney’s also died.
Immediately following the dramatic dinner, the two “Housewives” both got inked by an in-house tattoo artist in the back of the restaurant.
Though Luann de Lesseps considered getting a tat herself, Ramona Singer was skeptical of Williams’ sudden decision, which she made midway through dinner.
“You’re very emotional tonight. Maybe this is not the right time to do it,” Singer warned Williams, while Sonja Morgan cautioned her about the permanence of body art.
“This is so crazy, but it feels so right and I don’t want to wait,” Williams said in a confessional. “I don’t want to wait to honor my grandmother. I don’t want to wait to memorialize her in this special way. I just know this is the moment.”
Williams had her grandmother’s name, Katie, tattooed in white ink on the inside of her wrist, while 38-year-old McSweeney added her grandmother Marie’s name.
“Thank you. I really really appreciate it,” McSweeney told the tattoo artist when they were finished. “I really love it. This is like my most special tattoo now that I have.”
Though Williams complained that her first tattoo “hurt like a bitch,” she said it was worth it: “I got Katie with me every day, and I love her.”
