Lizzo Wore a Patriotic Bustier to Vote
God bless America and God bless Lizzo for showing everyone that the strut to the ballot box can be a whole different kind of runway. In her latest Instagram posts, the superstar singer and ardent Joe Biden supporter (she's been stumping for the Biden-Harris campaign in the state of Michigan, where she was born) shows off her one-of-a-kind style — with a dash of Americana for good measure.
Without a long line, a common scene in spots like Texas and New York City, Lizzo sauntered up to her ballot box clad in a red, white, and blue American flag bustier, white cutoff shorts, glam glitter construction boots, and a fiery head of curly red hair.
"Auntie Sam realness – RECLAIMING MY TIME MY COUNTRY MY RIGHTS," she wrote a post showing the details of her outfit, including an array of necklaces, one reading BBW.
"When I heard about all you guys are doing out here in Detroit, working so hard, getting on a plane was the least I could do to say thank you in person," she said during a campaign stop in Detroit last Saturday. "Michigan is going to be so crucial, and how Michigan votes is going to be so crucial between trying to make America great again or finally bringing America together."
In addition to the snapshots, Lizzo also posted a video showing the actual moment she dropped off her ballot (she's wearing a mask, of course). In the clip, which opens with her red socks and her shimmering Jimmy Choo x Timberland boots, she pulls her ballot out of an oversized, red clutch before slipping it into the ballot box. Naturally, the clip includes plenty of hair flips and twerking.
"I VOTED. This is my 3rd time voting in my whole life. When you think about how few and far in between that is it really puts things into perspective! I believe this is the beginning of making voting ACCESSIBLE and FAIR so that this country reflects its people," she captioned the video. "To all my activists, thank you for your constant organizing & service. Let's get our vote in so we can get back to the good fight for true liberty and justice for ALL. Have YOU voted yet?"
