Lucinda Strafford’s party-ready updo looks like a twinkly night sky
We’re loving seeing Christmas hair and beauty inspiration from the celebs. We’ve been shown a candy cane-like colour by Strictly’s Dianne Buswell, a fairy hair look that comes courtesy of Rita Ora, and now Lucinda Strafford is treating us to a look at a very festive updo.
The Love Island star took to Instagram to share the look with her 830k followers. Captioned “Santa tell me”, Lucinda poses for the series of snaps in a black co-ord outfit. However, it’s her hair that’s really stealing the limelight.
WIth her hair slicked back into an updo, Lucinda added diamanté detailing to her roots, and, from a distance, they look like a starry night sky. She also styled her ends into a braid to give the look a bit more detail.
Lucinda’s look has reeled her in compliments like “gorgeous” and “best look yet” from fans – and we couldn’t agree more. The hair gems give a simple updo much more of a festive feel, and when they catch the light, they look incredibly sparkly.
If you’re wondering if Lucinda painstakingly stuck each gem on with a bit of glue, we’d imagine she more likely used a hair stamping machine like this£8.99Amazon one. The easy-to-use stamper comes with gems in a variety of colours and shapes that can be applied to clothes, accessories and stationery, but TikTokers have been using it on their locks.
Unlike some TikTok beauty trends, this is safe for use on the hair. To remove the gems from your hair, the brand instructs shoppers to simply peel them off – no need to wash out.
Hair gems have been hugely popular since the start of summer, and since Euphoria came out. Celebs like Laura Whitmore – who debuted a jewel-studded hair look for a Love Island show – Millie Court and Serena Williams have all worn them in recent months, and they’re set to be popular in 2023, too.
Another sparkly hair trend currently taking off is “fairy hair”, aka hair tinsel. As we mentioned, Rita has been giving the look a go, to the delight of her fans.
“Where do you get the cute glittery things in your hair?” one fan asks on an Instagram video, while another says: “I just wanna know where I can find those glitter extensions.”
A third simply writes: “The glitter highlights >>.”
