DEAR DEIDRE: A WOMAN I had sex with says her baby son is mine – but she is refusing to have a DNA test and makes threats that I will never see him again.

I met her in a club while she was out with some friends two years ago.

There was an instant attraction, though she was married. I ended up staying at her place for the weekend while her husband was away. She was 25 and I was 23.

We had a secret relationship for a few months but she wouldn’t leave her husband and we split up.

Then I read on Facebook that she’d had a baby and judging from the dates, I thought I could be the father.

When she and her husband briefly lived apart, I went to meet her to talk.

I really took to her little boy and asked for tests to find out if he was mine.

But those tests never took place and she later got back with her husband.

Now she’s been in touch to say I am his dad and need to take responsibility.

But in her next breath, she says I will never see him again and that she is going to bring him up with her husband.

DEIDRE SAYS: I am afraid it sounds like she wants to pressure you into paying maintenance but deny you – and this little boy – contact, even if you are his biological father.

I understand what an emotional strain this must be for you but all you can do is stick to your guns and insist on DNA tests.

Spell out that if the test is positive, you would expect regular contact with your child – for both your sakes.
