Meghan Markle given advice by Trump because ‘she takes things too seriously’
Donald Trump offered some words of advice to Meghan Markle regarding the media during an explosive LBC interview.
The president defied diplomatic norms while speaking to Nigel Farage to throw his support behind Boris Johnson in the forthcoming election.
But the New Yorker also spoke about the Duchess of Sussex and said he thinks the mum-of-one has taken the media interest in her life "very, very personally".
The president said he thought Prince Harry was a "really fine young man", but added he could sympathise with Meghan over what she has claimed is "unfair" press coverage.
On Twitter , the President regularly brands the Press 'fake news media' and 'the enemy of the people' in response to negative reports.
Asked if he felt sorry for Meghan, he said: "Well I've been watching her interviews and I've seen it and she's taken it very personally, I guess you have to be a little bit different than that but she takes it very, very personally and I can understand it.
"I don't know her, I will say I've met Harry and he's great I met him when I was over, we had something that was so incredible recently, that was five months ago now how time flies.
"I got to meet Harry and he is really a fine young man the whole family is I think the whole family is terrific."
When Mr Trump visited the UK in June, the US President did not meet Meghan as she was on maternity leave.
She and Harry have received criticism in recent months over their decision to repeatedly use private jets to travel while campaigning for greater care of the environment.
Harry had previously condemned the "ruthless campaign" against Meghan, saying: "I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces."
In the interview Trump called the Queen 'an incredible woman' and described sitting next to her during a state banquet at Buckingham Palace.
"I sat next to her, and she was smiling and having a good time and I was smiling and having a good time. It was really a great evening, and I was told that she enjoyed it and I can tell you I enjoyed it."
He added: "She's a great woman. I say that very seldom. I don't say that often, I have to say, about anybody.
"But she is really very outstanding, and Prince Charles so good, so good. He loves the environment. We had a great time."
The president is due to return to the UK for a NATO summit in December.
